ON THE BEACHES (Short Film, Produced)
ON THE BEACHES (18 mins, 2019)
Summer, 1933 - Kitty and her little brother David are running away from their domineering father when their game of soldiers takes an unexpected turn. They discover a mysterious foreigner hiding out in a clifftop cottage - a Jewish refugee from Hitler’s Germany by the name of Albert Einstein.
Short film funded by the Pears Short Film Fund at UK Jewish Film.
Featuring Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, The Last Of Us) and Nicholas Woodeson (Rome) as Albert Einstein.
ON THE BEACHES is a proof of concept for a feature-length film by the same team, which delves deeper into the little-known period Einstein spent as a refugee after he fled Nazi Germany in 1933 with a price on his head. Sheltered in a wooden hut in Norfolk by eccentric MP Oliver Locker-Lampson, Einstein spent six weeks in the UK before defying Hitler in a public speech at the Royal Albert Hall in support of Jewish refugees.
